My Month of Meditation – January 2014
✓ The Not Shit PromiseWritten by me. No AI.Last year I would have laughed at the idea of meditation ((zenhabits has a great article about it.)). You might be thinking the same thing right now, a nice little grin spreading over your lips. However, indulge me for a few minutes.
Meditation is ridiculously simple at its core: it’s the practice of focusing on your breath. It’s the practice of staying still somewhere and just focusing. Most of us live in a world of constant updates and pestering: push notifications, text messages, tweets, emails, Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, app.net (just joking with that one) to name a few. I know I do.
As much as I’d love to just drop all that stuff, I can’t. I work on the internet, and that job requires me to keep up to date with a lot of things. Due to that, I need to get constantly updated about stuff.
Meditation for me is my way to ignore all that for a few minutes a day. This month I’m starting with 2 minutes of meditation every day, and recording it on this post so I can check back.
I’ll be recording it whether I manage to achieve it or not, so this can be my accountability.
