One of my Unobvious doodles ended up printed in Steven Bartlett’s first book, Happy Sexy Millionaire (2021).
It happened in the most undramatic way possible. I’d been making thousands of little visuals on Unobvious. I liked one of Steven’s tweets, drew something about it, and he asked if he could put it in the book he was writing. That was the whole transaction.
The actual ask, January 2021:
The doodle is the Twitter bird working a little puppet on strings. “We become what the algorithm wants us to be.” Felt about right at the time. Still does.

Which is still the only advice I’ve got. Make the stuff and put it out. Mostly nothing happens. Occasionally it turns up in somebody’s book.
