Hack The DMC was a 24-hour hackathon at Barnsley DMC in March 2018. I helped organise it, then entered it as well, which in hindsight was ambitious.

Me and Matt Watson (@mwtsn) built a thing called The Selfie Button, with @llsipall doing the actual code magic. It was a Domino’s pizza box, because we had to improvise, that sat on the DMC reception desk. Press the big button and it took your photo and tweeted it. Press the small button if you’d rather it didn’t. A webcam, a couple of buttons on a breadboard, a Raspberry Pi, and a Python script holding the whole lot together.
Fully working "prototype" of our patent pending UTTERY AMAZING PRODUCT: The Selfie Button™ #HackTheDMC #LoveDMC

We won. I genuinely couldn’t remember whether we had until I went back through my old tweets, but there it is:
We won @mwtsn! And so did a deserving @mattbrailsford. Let me know if you want a Google Home or Amazon Dot. #HackTheDMC #LoveDMC

So the prize was a Google Home or an Amazon Dot. I still can’t remember which I went for.
